The Laboratory maintains (replicates) the unique genetic collection of wildings, half-culture varieties, marker and other tomato forms. It replenishes the collection with new forms and hybrids.
It conducts complex research of the tomato genofond for the solution of the theoretical and practical problems of selection: the assessment of phenological, biochemical, cytological and reproductive peculiarities of plant collection and their resistance to injurious organisms; hybrid formation (mutant-wilding, mutant- mutant, etc); multimarker forms formation; transfer of the plants from the collection to the unified genetic background; hybrid segregation analysis of gene inheritance.
